National Food Safety Standard –
Food Contact Materials and Products –
Determination of Burning Residues in Resin
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the determination of burning residues in the resin of food
contact materials and products.
This Standard is applicable to the determination of burning residues in the polyethylene
resin of food contact materials and products.
2 Principle
After carbonization, the specimen is calcinated at 800°C, then calculate the mass of
residues.
3 Apparatus
3.1 Balance. sensibility of 0.1mg.
3.2 High-temperature oven. the maximum application temperature is ≥900°C.
3.3 Dryer.
3.4 Crucible. quartz crucible or porcelain crucible.
4 Analytical Procedures
4.1 Sampling method
Operate as per GB 5009.156.
4.2 Specimen determination
Weigh 5g~10g (accurate to 0.1mg) of particle specimen; place it into the constant-
weight crucible that has been burnt to 800°C±25°C; carefully carbonize to smoke-free;
then place into 800°C±25°C high-temperature oven to burn for 2h; cool off to about
