Foreword
4.1~4.6, 4.7.1 and Chapter 6 in this Standard are compulsory; the rest are
recommendatory.
This Standard replaces GB 9744-1997 "Truck Tyres".
Compared with GB 9744-1997, the main changes of this Standard are as follows.
— The specification and dimension table is deleted. It is cited as footnotes (3.1 of
1997 edition, 4.1 of this edition);
— The assessment of the arithmetic mean value of failure energy at five points is
changed into that of the values of failure energy at each test point (3.6.1 of 1997
edition; 4.5.1.1 and 4.5.1.2 of this edition);
— Assess the failure energy of truck tyres respectively in metric series and inch
series (4.5.1.1 and 4.5.1.2 of this edition);
— The inspection rules are deleted (Chapter 5 of 1997 edition);
— The table of operating speeds corresponding to loads is deleted (Table 19 of
1997 edition);
— The requirements for the marking of tyres are modified (see Chapter 6).
Appendix A and Appendix B of this Standard are normative.
This Standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry
Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on
Tyre and Rim of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 19).

Truck Tyres
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods and
marking of truck tyres.
This Standard is applicable to new pneumatic tyres of truck.

less than 1.6mm for midget and light truck tyres, and 2.0mm for truck tyres.
4.6.2 Marks shall be moulded on the shoulders of tyre on both sides to indicate the
positions of tread wearing marks.
4.7 Appearance quality
4.7.1 The covers shall not have any appearance defect which may severely affect
the service life, such as the separation between components, spongy, rim tape, bead
ring fracture, seriously drawn up bead ring, cords break, wrinkled cords in tyre cavity,
and crown cord flashing etc. The flap, if any, shall not be incomplete or cracked.
4.7.2 Other requirements for the appearance quality of the cover and flap are
detailed in HG/T 2177.
4.8 If inner tube and flap are used, the inner tube shall meet the requirements of GB
7036.1, and the flap shall match the cover.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Determine the section width and external diameter of inflated new tyre as well as
the height of tread wearing marks according to GB/T 521.
5.2 Inspect the tyre strength according to GB/T 6327.
5.3 Inspect the tyre endurance according to GB/T 4501.
5.4 Inspect the high-speed performance of midget and light truck tyres according to
GB/T 7035.
5.5 Inspect the appearance quality of tyre according to HG/T 2177.
6 Marking
6.1 The side wall of each cover shall be marked with the following marks a) ~ h).
Among which, a) ~ f) shall be moulded on; g) shall be permanent and h) may be the
mark that cannot be washed off.
a) Specification;
b) Trademark, manufacturer name or place name;
c) Load index or load capacity, ply rating, inflation pressure;
d) Speed symbol;
e) Name (or code) of the framework material used for crown and side wall;
f) Marks of tread wearing marking position;

5 Test Methods
