Children’s leather sandals
1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements, judgment rules, inspection rules, marking,
packaging, transportation, storage of children's leather sandals; describes the
corresponding test methods; defines relevant terms and definitions; gives product
classifications.
This document applies to the production, inspection, and sales of infants’ leather sandals
and children's leather sandals for general wear, with the upper (surface) made of natural
leather, artificial leather, synthetic leather, textiles as the main materials, manufactured
through various processes.
This document does not apply to infants’ leather sandals and children's leather sandals
with special functions.
Infants’ leather sandals and children's leather sandals with upper (surface) made of other
materials can refer to this document for implementation.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 2703, as well as the following terms and
definitions, apply to this document.
3.1
Infants' leather sandals
Leather sandals with shoe size not exceeding 170, generally suitable for infants and
young children aged 3 years and below.
3.2
Children's leather sandals
Leather sandals with shoe size greater than 170, generally suitable for children aged
3 to 14.
3.3
Closed sandals
The upper surface is basically complete, without large areas of perforation, and is
mostly made of hollow, narrow leather strips and woven materials to meet the
requirements of coolness and breathability.
3.4
Open sandals
One or two of the upper parts of the front tip, inner and outer waist, and heel are
incomplete, and the upper surface forms a large perforation.
Note: The open sandals can be front opening, rear opening, middle opening, front closed
rear opening, front and rear closed whilst middle opening, etc.
3.5
Stripe sandals
The upper surface is made of strips of various widths through sewing or knitting.
Note: The stripe sandals are more exposed than the open sandals; they are divided into
various specific forms, such as front straps and back straps according to the position of the
straps.
4 Product classification
4.1 According to the upper material, it can be divided into natural leather (top leather,
split leather), artificial leather, synthetic leather, textiles, mixed materials and other
uppers for infants’ leather sandals and children's leather sandals.
4.2 According to the upper structure, it can be divided into closed leather sandals and
children's leather sandals, open leather sandals and children's leather sandals, stripe
leather sandals and children's leather sandals.
4.3 According to the user, it can be divided into children's leather sandals and infants’
leather sandals.
5 Requirements
5.1 General requirements
5.1.1 Product identification shall meet the requirements of QB/T 2673.
5.1.2 After-sales quality judgment is shown in Appendix A.
5.2 Sensory quality
Sensory quality requirements are shown in Table 1. Items 1 ~ 5 are the primary items;
items 6 ~ 9 are the subsidiary items.
d) Other cases that are not suitable for testing the upper and sole peeling strength.
5.3.3.3 The upper and sole peeling strength shall not be less than 40 N/cm.
5.3.3.4 If the material is torn and the peeling layer is not opened during the upper and
sole peeling strength test, the peeling strength shall not be less than 30 N/cm.
5.3.4 Outsole hardness
5.3.4.1 The hardness of the solid outsole shall be 45 Shore A ~ 65 Shore A. The hardness
of the microporous foam outsole shall be 45 Shore C ~ 65 Shore C. The composite
outsole shall meet the hardness requirements of the solid outsole and/or microporous
foam outsole according to the type of material.
5.3.4.2 The outsole hardness of natural leather outsoles and children's leather sandals
with an outsole thickness of less than 3 mm is not measured.
5.3.5 Upper strap pull-out strength (or upper strap pull-out force)
The upper strap pull-out strength of children's leather sandals manufactured by bonding
process shall not be less than 70 N/cm. If the material is torn and the upper and sole
joints are not pulled apart, the upper strap pull-out strength shall not be less than 30
N/cm. The upper strap pull-out force of children's leather sandals manufactured by non-
bonding process (rivet nailing, etc.) shall not be less than 70 N.
5.3.6 Fiberboard flex index
Fiberboard flex index shall not be less than 1.9.
5.3.7 Lining and insole friction color fastness
The lining and insole friction color fastness staining grade shall not be less than grade
3 (gray scale)
5.3.8 Shank
5.3.8.1 For children's leather sandals with a shoe size of 200 or more, a heel height of
more than 20 mm and a heel opening height of more than 8 mm, it shall have a shank
or other rigid support material. The length, longitudinal stiffness, hardness, bending
performance of the shank shall meet the requirements of GB/T 28011.
5.3.8.2 There is no requirement for the shank of children's leather sandals with injection
molded midsoles. The longitudinal stiffness of injection molded midsoles shall meet
the requirements of QB/T 4862.
5.3.8.3 The shank of wedge heels is not tested; the shank of wooden or hard plastic
molded soles (hardness ≥ 80 Shore A) is not tested.
5.3.9 Yellowing resistance
The yellowing resistance of the upper and sole edge (non-ground contact part) of
children's leather sandals shall not be less than grade 3. White or light-colored uppers
and sole edges (non-ground contact parts) are tested for yellowing resistance; the rest
are exempted from testing.
5.3.10 Bonding strength between outsole and outer midsole
The bonding strength between outsole and outer midsole shall not be less than 20 N/cm;
it shall not be less than 15 N/cm when the microporous bottom is torn but the glue layer
is not opened.
6 Test method
6.1 Sensory quality
It is tested according to GB/T 3903.5.
6.2 Folding resistance
It is tested according to GB/T 3903.1.
6.3 Abrasion resistance
It is tested according to GB/T 3903.2-2017. Test conditions: Apply a pressure of (4.9 ±
0.1) N and wear continuously for 20 min. If there is no flat area on the outsole foam
material, the abrasion resistance test is not performed.
6.4 Upper and sole peeling strength
It is tested according to GB/T 3903.3-2011. Test conditions: blade width (10 ± 0.2) mm.
6.5 Outsole hardness
It is tested according to GB/T 3903.4-2017. When testing the hardness of the foamed
outsole, the surface dense layer is not polished. For the outsole made of a single material,
any part that meets the standard requirements shall be tested; for the composite outsole,
the stress point shall be tested. The patch material shall be tested together with the whole
shoe; different materials at the stress point shall be tested and the results expressed
separately.
6.6 Upper pull-out strength
6.6.1 Specimen preparation: The sample is 1 pair. Cut the upper and sole into 10 mm
wide strips; take one specimen from the inside and outside. For specimens with an upper
width of less than 10 mm, the sole remains in its original state. After the upper is cut in

stiffness, hardness first; then select the shank with the largest hardness for bending
performance test. The longitudinal stiffness of the injection molded midsole shall be
tested according to QB/T 4862.
6.11 Yellowing resistance
6.11.1 Judgment of light-colored materials: According to GB/T 4841.3, it is light color
if it is not darker than 1/12 of the standard depth of dyeing.
6.11.2 It is tested according to method A in HG/T 3689-2014; the irradiation time is 6
h. When the sampling volume is insufficient, the same batch of materials can be taken
for testing.
6.12 Adhesion strength between outsole and outer midsole
6.12.1 Cut the specimens according to GB/T 21396-2008 and test them. The number of
samples is 1 pair; 1 specimen is taken for each sole. The test result is the lower value of
the test results of the two shoes.
6.12.2 If the sample sole is made of hard material and is difficult to cut, use a cutter to
cut 50 mm × 15 mm of the outer soft material without cutting the hard material; then
inspect according to GB/T 21396-2008.
7 Judgment rules
7.1 If the primary items of labeling, physical, mechanical properties and sensory quality
meet the requirements of this document, whilst not more than two subsidiary items of
sensory quality do not meet the requirements of this document, the product is judged to
be qualified.
7.2 If one of the following situations occurs, the product is judged to be unqualified:
a) The labeling does not meet the requirements of this document;
b) The physical and mechanical properties do not meet the requirements of this
document;
c) One or more of the primary items of sensory quality do not meet the requirements
of this document;
d) More than two of the subsidiary items of sensory quality do not meet the
requirements of this document.
Appendix A
(Informative)
After-sales quality assessment of children's leather sandals
A.1 After-sales service period
It can be determined by the enterprise according to the product grade and clearly stated
in the after-sales service provisions.
A.2 After-sales quality judgement
The following problems that occur under normal wear during the after-sales service
period can be judged as quality problems:
a) Failing to meet the quality requirements of qualified products in the product
standards;
b) Protruding nail tips (heads) in the shoes, uneven inside of the shoes affecting
wearing;
c) Upper cracks, broken or cracked upper feet, white frost, discoloration, etc. The
front upper is obviously loose, the coating layer falls off or cracks;
d) Open thread, open glue;
e) The main heel or toe cap is deformed;
f) The heel is deformed, cracked, broken or fallen. The heel falls off;
g) The lining or inner pad is obviously discolored and contaminates the socks.
Lining worn out;
h) Outer sole or inner sole cracked, broken or uneven, affecting wear;
i) Waist strips unbonded, broken;
j) Shanks soft, broken or loose;
k) Other problems that seriously affect appearance or wear.
A.3 Inspection method
A.3.1 Sensory quality shall be inspected in accordance with GB/T 3903.5-2011.
A.3.2 Discoloration: Use white absorbent cotton or gauze soaked with clean water (no
water dripping when pressed by fingers) to rub the discolored parts (inside of upper,
