3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Water-based coatings
Coatings that take water as solvent or dispersion medium.
4 Product Classification
4.1 The water-based coatings for container in this Standard are divided into the following
categories according to their application functions: primer, intermediate paint, interior topcoat,
exterior paint, underframe paint, floor primer and topcoat.
4.2 The supporting system of water-based coatings for container in this Standard are divided
into: exterior supporting coatings, interior supporting coatings, underframe supporting coatings,
and floor supporting coatings.
4.2.1 Exterior supporting coatings
The outer surface of the container is generally coated with a three-layer coating film, including
primer, intermediate paint and exterior paint. The exterior supporting coating can also be a two-
layer matching system of primer and topcoat.
4.2.2 Interior supporting coatings
The inner surface of the container is generally coated with two-layer coating film, including
primer and topcoat.
4.2.3 Underframe supporting coatings
The surface of the container underframe is generally coated with two-layer coating film,
including primer and topcoat.
4.2.4 Floor supporting coatings
The surface of the container floor is generally coated with single-layer or multi-layer coating
film; and can also be coated with two-layer supporting coating film, including primer and
topcoat.

evenly.
6.2.2.2 When the tested product clearly indicates the dilution ratio, the items that need to be
tested for plate preparation shall be conducted by adding water according to the specified
dilution ratio. If the tested product clearly indicates the dilution ratio range, the intermediate
value shall be taken.
6.2.2.3 For the test plate of water-based coatings for container and their supporting systems, the
used base material of the sample plate shall adopt the steel plate with steel grade of 09CuPCrNi-
A in China or its equivalent standard. The steel plate shall be free of rust, scratches, stains,
discoloration and other surface defects, etc. Before the steel plate is painted, the oil stains shall
be removed, and the surface shall be free of visible grease and dirt before shot blasting. The
steel plate can also be treated by the cleaning and mechanical grinding methods specified in

unless otherwise specified, it shall be made with a single type of coating, that is, prepare the
plate with topcoat or primer, respectively. It can be painted by brushing or spraying, with two
coats, the first coat is (1.0??0.1) g/dm2, and the second coat is applied after an interval of 24h,
and the second coat is (0.8 ??0.1) g/dm2.
After the plate is prepared, it shall be placed under the conditions specified in GB/T 9278 for 7
days then test.
As agreed by both parties, other coating methods or thicknesses different from this standard
shall be indicated in the report.
6.3 Operation method
The used reagents are all analytically pure above, and the used water is all Class-III water in
accordance with GB/T 6682. The test solution shall be adjusted to the specified test temperature
before the test.
6.3.1 State in the container
Open the coating packaging container and allow sedimentation at the bottom of the container
when stirring with a spatula or stirring rod. It is regarded as uniform if there is no hard block
after stirring.
6.3.2 Appearance of coating film
The prepared sample plate was placed for 24h, visually observe the coating film under scattered
sunlight. If the coating film was uniform, flat, without blooming, pinholes, cracking and falling
off, it was rated as "normal".
6.3.3 Storage stability
Put about 0.5L of coating sample into a well-sealed tin can with about 10% space left in the
can; put it in a constant temperature drying oven at (50??2)??? after sealing; and take it out after
7 days, and place it at (23??2) ??? for 3h. Open the container; stir with a spatula or a stirring rod;
and allow sedimentation at the bottom of the container. If it is easy to mix evenly after stirring,
and the coating has no obvious color or other difference after storage, it is rated as "no
abnormality".
