Foreword
Article 4 and Article 6 of this Part are compulsory; the others are voluntary.
GB 4066, Fire Extinguishing Media, is divided into two parts.
-- Part 1. BC Powder;
-- Part 2. ABC Powder.
This Part is Part 2 of GB 4066. This Part is nonequivalent to ISO 7202.1987, Fire
Protection – Fire Extinguishing Media – Powder, and the major difference between
them are as follows.
-- some modifications in formatting are made in accordance with the Chinese
language codes;
-- some expressions applicable to international standards are changed into those
applicable to Chinese standards;
-- the requirements for moisture content, moisture absorption and color are added;
-- the test methods for fire extinguishing performance are modified;
-- Annex A “Ammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate Content Test Method” and Annex B
“Flowability Test Method” are added.
This Part replaces GB 15060-2002, Ammonium Phosphate Fire Extinguishing Powder.
In addition to the reference of ISO 7202-1987, this revision is made by referencing
United States Federal Specification O-D-1380B 1990.12 Ammonium Phosphate Fire
Extinguishing Powder and the third part of Malaysian standard MS 1180 1990 Fire
Extinguishing Media – Part 3 – Specification for Powder.
Compared with GB 15060-2002, the major changes of this Part are as follows.
-- the requirements for color and discharge performance are added;
-- the requirements for content, density and grain size distribution are modified;
-- the test methods for moisture content and fire extinguishing performance are
modified;
-- the normative annex “Ammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate Content Test Method”
is added (see Annex A);
-- the informative annex “Flowability Test Method” is added (see Annex B).
From the date of implementation of this Part, GB 13532-1992 General Specifications
Fire Extinguishing Media – Part 2. ABC Powder
1 Application Scope
This Part of GB 4066 specifies the definition, requirements, test methods, inspection
rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of ABC fire extinguishing powder.
This Part applies to fire extinguishing powders suitable for use against fires of classes
A, B and C.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Part of GB 4066

normal production;
c) during the periodical inspection at a two years’ interval during normal production;
d) when the production is resumed after a production halt of more than 1 year;
e) when a national quality supervision body asks for type inspection.
6.2 Batch and lot
A batch is a single charge of material in the processing equipment that has been made
homogeneous.
A lot contains one or more batches of products, manufactured to the same formulation
by the same manufacturing process and under the same environmental conditions.
6.3 Sampling
6.3.1 Samples for type inspection shall be taken from the qualified products by exit-
factory inspection. Before sampling, mix up products homogeneously; before the test
for each item of performance, samples shall be mixed up.
6.3.2 When sampling a lot or a batch, samples of not less than 50 kg shall be taken
at random. The samples taken shall be stored in individual, clean, dry, airtight
containers.
6.4 Evaluation of inspection results
The results of exit-factory inspection and type inspection shall be as specified in the
technical requirements of Article 4 of this Part; If one item is not as specified in this
Part, then they are decided to be nonconforming products.
7 Marking, Packaging, Operating Instructions,
Transportation and Storage
7.1 Marking
The manufacturer or supplier shall provide, marked on each separate package, the
information including manufacturer name, address, product name, main fire
extinguishing constituent and content, trademark, standard number, manufacturing

c) graduated beaker. volume 400 mL;
d) electrothermal constant-temperature drying oven. accuracy ± 2°C;
e) closed electric furnace.
A.4 Test procedure
A.4.1 Preparation of solution to be tested
a) Weigh 1 g of ammonium phosphate fire extinguishing powder sample, accurate
to 0.000 2 g, place in a 100-mL beaker, add 2 mL of acetone and keep stirring.
b) After acetone evaporates, add a small amount of hot grade 3 water at (60 ~ 70)°C
to dissolve and filter, use about 250 mL of grade 3 water to wash undissolved
substances, collect the filtrate and washing in a 500-mL volumetric flask, use
grade 3 water to dilute to 500 mL, shake up. The solution obtained is solution to
be tested A.
A.4.2 Use a pipette to absorb 25 mL of solution A to transfer to a 400-mL beaker, add
10 mL of nitric acid solution, use grade 3 water to dilute to 100 mL and preheat to
nearly boiling. Add (40 ~ 45) mL of quinolamethanone reagent, put on the cover for the
watch glass, heat to slightly boiling for 1 min on a closed electric furnace or place on a
water bath to preserve heat until the precipitates separate into layers, take the beaker
out, cool to room temperature and rotate the beaker for 3 to 4 times during the cooling
process.
A.4.3 Filter on a crucible filter which has been pre-dried for 45 min at (180 ± 2)°C,
filter all supernatant liquid before using about 100 mL of grade 3 water to wash
precipitates, place the precipitates and filter in an electrothermal constant-temperature
drying oven to dry for 45 min at (180 ± 2)°C, transfer to a desiccator to cool for 45 min
and weigh.
A.5 Results
Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate content x1 (%) in samples is calculated in
accordance with Formula (1).
